The Odyssey of Pure Minerals / Since the Silk Road

Born in the Shifting Sands, Awakened on Clay.

These pigments are the dust of sacred earth, preserving the raw crystalline refraction of raw cinnabar and malachite. Untouched by modern chemical binding, they wait for the ancient alchemy of hide glue to breathe on your canvas.

The Primal Companion

The Fate of Dust & Glue

Natural mineral pigments are pure yet prideful; retaining their crystalline gemstone structures, they possess no innate adhesion. Without a medium, they remain free-flowing sand. Only through the warmth of traditional Hide Glue (动物明胶) do they awaken a destined grip upon the clay, binding together to breathe for another millennium.

Modern synthetic adhesives suffocate the natural breath of mineral pigments, causing surface cracking and delamination on raw clay walls. Animal-derived Hide Glue, by contrast, expands and contracts organically with atmospheric humidity — mirroring the breath of the clay itself, preserving the integrity of the mural for centuries.

The transformation demands precise temperature control — around 50–60°C — where the amber glue dissolves into a viscous medium. Tiny measured drops are introduced into the ground mineral dust and worked with a spatula until the dry, sandy texture dissolves into a smooth, museum-grade paint with a crystalline sheen unique to the Dunhuang tradition.

The Epilogue
The desert winds may fade the memory,
but the minerals hold the eternity.

From the sacred earth we query the pure “cinnabar”, to the deep silence of “malachite”, and the timeless sky of “azurite”. Bound by raw hide glue, crowned with “matte gold”, FloAria paints the dust of light that refuses to fade for a thousand years.
